Oil's war bid · chips puked · $1B of ETF buying, BTC down anyway
Tape as of 7:41am CT (12:41 UTC) · Hyperliquid marks · 24h
📣The slate
- Oil is the Fed now. Everything else is a footnote.
- Chips got taken out back. Memory worst of all.
- ETFs bought a billion. Price didn't care.
- Overnight was a long flush, start to finish.
- Meta beat and still sold. Tesla beat and still sold.
- Lighter and Monero green. Everything else red.
- Memes fried. Nothing excepted.
- Pre-IPO perps green while listed AI bleeds. Funny.
📉The tape
Three-day bounce, one-night round trip. Wednesday was the third green session for stocks and crypto tried to tag along. Then oil hit a five-month high, Nasdaq futures dumped and every major gave it back. Funding pinned at 0.01% across the board. Nobody's paying up for longs.
| Perp | Price | 24h | OI | Funding/8h |
| BTC | 81,721 | −2.26% | $3.42B | 0.0100% |

| HYPE | 78.17 | −3.83% | $1.61B | 0.0100% |
| ZEC | 1,255 | −2.89% | $630M | 0.0100% |

BTC $98M L / $69M SETH $48M L / $40M SSOL $7M L / $5M SHYPE $2.3M LZEC $6.6M L / $9.3M S
Mood: the overnight half was pure long pain, $203M of $215M. The last hour went quiet at $2M. Flush done or just pausing for the bell. The 9:30 open decides.
🏦Macro
Oil runs the tape. WTI $99.27 (+1.4%), Brent $107.71 (+2.4%) on the HIP-3 perps, a five-month high with no end to the Iran war in sight and the Middle East escalating again. That's an inflation print with a pulse, and fed funds futures have about a 13% shot at a hike Oct 28 with December basically priced (single source). Gold $4,079 (−1.2%) and silver $55.85 (−2.8%) sold with everything else, so this isn't a fear bid. It's a liquidity drain. Natgas −1.7%, copper −2%. The Fed is a passenger.
📈Stocks
| Name | Price | 24h |
| S&P 500 | 7,685 | −0.61% |
| Nasdaq-100 | 29,358 | −1.04% |
| Nikkei | 63,192 | −2.54% |
| Korea (EWY) | 152.09 | −3.55% |
- Indices: Wednesday's rally, refunded. S&P closed 7,757 (+0.6%), third straight green day. Futures now S&P ~−1%, Nasdaq-100 ~−1.7%. Nikkei −2.65%, Hang Seng −3%+. Asia set the tone.
- Semis: disgusting. SOXL 91.67 (−10.3%). SNDK 1,314 (−6.7%), SK Hynix 926 (−5.3%), MU 882 (−4.3%), INTC 88.51 (−5.2%), ORCL 125.86 (−5.1%), DELL −6.1%, CRWV 59.47 (−6.8%), NBIS −6.3%. NVDA 216.98 (−1.4%), the least bad. Memory is where the leverage lived.
- Big tech: earnings didn't save anyone. META 681 (−1.5%) after a beat. TSLA 372 (−1.7%) after a beat. AAPL 344 (+1.6%) and MSFT 531 (+0.2%) are the hiding spots.
- Defense: PLTR 199 (+3.1%). War tape, war stock. Only green name that matters.
- Consumer/crypto: all red. HOOD 97.27 (−3.4%), COIN 169 (−3.1%), CRCL 85.67 (−1.5%), MSTR 145.10 (−1.3%), SPCX 154.80 (−3.3%, still ~15% over the $135 IPO).
₿Bitcoin
- 81,721. Down from 83,610 prev-day. $80–82K is the floor everyone's staring at. A daily close under $80K breaks the box; $87.5K is the line that says demand is winning. We're closer to the wrong one.
- ETF flows: +$1.07B in three sessions (Farside): Mon +$527M (IBIT +$665M), Tue +$23M, Wed +$525M (IBIT +$235M, FBTC +$213M). Biggest day in a month and price went down. Somebody's selling into every dollar of it.
- Positioning: OI $3.42B on Hyperliquid, funding 0.01%, $3.4B volume. $98M longs rekt vs $69M shorts: both sides got chopped, longs worse.
- Saylor: last print was 250 BTC at ~$86K (Oct 12), the smallest buy of 2026, now 848,250 BTC. Monday's 8-K is the next tell.

- LIT 3.72 (+9.2%). Best perp-DEX token on the board while HYPE bleeds. $82M volume, OI $142M. Lighter's taking share of the narrative, and nobody on the TL can explain why HYPE is the one selling.
- XMR 637 (+6.7%). Funding 0.21%/8h, twenty times everything else. Longs are paying through the nose. Strong chart, crowded trade.
- VVV 27.42 (+4.1%). Venice green on a red board. Revenue-plus-AI coin still has a bid.
- NEAR 5.01 (−4.6%) on $281M volume, the most-traded alt that isn't ZEC or HYPE. Bleeding with no headline.
- WLD −8.1%, ZRO −8.6%. Cooked. ENA 0.1997 lost 20 cents. MON 0.0213 (−5.2%) still finding no floor. STRK 0.0558 (−3.3%), round trip complete.
- SOL 104.38 (−2.4%), ETH 2,401 (−2.9%). Both beta, both underperformed BTC. ETH sitting on 2,400 like it owes rent.

| SPX | 0.3645 | −4.8% | $5M |
| CASHCAT | 0.1049 | −11.5% | $23M |
Memes fried, every last one. DOGE under 8 cents. Fartcoin lost its "only meme with buyers" crown and gave back 3.4%. CASHCAT −11.5%, the worst on the board.
Launchpads: PUMP is the only green meme perp, +1.4% on $106M volume and $153M OI. The buyback is doing the work, not the trenches. Bonk.fun has been out-launching pump.fun since late September (single source). Trenches are a ghost town until BTC finds a floor.
🛡Zcash
- $1,255 (−2.9%), from 1,292 prev-day. Holding 1,250 while ETH and HYPE fall harder. Still relative strength.
- Shorts paid, not longs. $9.3M shorts liquidated vs $6.6M longs, the only major where shorts got hit harder. OI $630M, funding 0.01%, $526M volume. Nearly as busy as HYPE at a third of the OI.
- Zcon7 starts Tuesday (Oct 27–29, Cancún), and Zcash turns 10 on Oct 28. Shielded supply ~30%. No fresh headline today; the chart is the news.
- Monero +6.7% is the tell: privacy bid is alive. Lose 1,200 and the reclaim gets ugly. Hold it and 1,300 is back on.
💧HYPE / Hyperliquid
- $78.17 (−3.8%), worst major on the board. From 81.29 prev-day. Funding 0.01%, OI $1.61B, $571M volume. Only $2.3M of HYPE longs liquidated: this is spot selling, not leverage.
- Lighter +9% while HYPE −4%. That's the pairs trade the TL loves to hate. Eventually it ends.
- HIP-3 is still the venue: SK Hynix $287M, Nasdaq-100 $266M, SpaceX $258M, S&P $252M, WTI $240M, META $237M. Every one of those out-traded SOL's $249M perp. People came to trade the war and the chip dump on Hyperliquid.
🤖AI & pre-IPO
- Pre-IPO perps green on a red day. OpenAI 1,543 (+1.3%), Anthropic 1,971 (+1.7%). Private AI gets bought while public AI gets sold. That spread is the trade.
- SPCX 154.80 (−3.3%), listed, still ~15% over the $135 IPO, $258M of HIP-3 volume.
- Chip tape: SOXL −10%, memory −4 to −7%, AI cloud (CRWV, NBIS, ORCL) −5 to −7%. NVDA −1.4% holds up best. AMD 529 (−2.9%), AVGO 327 (−3%), ARM −4.7%, MRVL −4.9%.
- Earnings: Meta beat, Tesla beat, both sold. "Beat and fade" is the tape. GOOGL and MSFT report Oct 28.
🗞Headlines
- Oil at a five-month high as the Middle East escalates again. Futures down on it. Verdict: bearish.
- Nikkei −2.65%, Hang Seng −3%+ — Asia dumped chips first and the US is following. Contagion.
- Meta beats, Tesla beats, both fade — the market wants guidance, not beats. Picky.
- Spot BTC ETFs: $1.07B in three days, biggest day in a month Wednesday, and BTC is lower. Supply is meeting every bid. Ominous.
- Fed hike odds Oct 28 around 13%, December hike priced (single source). Oil is writing the dot plot. Hawkish.
- Wintermute moved ~$90M of BTC into the drop (single source). Watch.
- Strategy's last buy was its smallest of 2026 (250 BTC). The bid of last resort is tapping the brakes. Meh.
