📣The slate
- Meta took the whole tech complex down with it.
- Yesterday's short squeeze, today's long funeral.
- Bitcoin gave back the entire ETF-bid rally in one session.
- Zcash finally bled. Shorts got their day.
- Oil ripped, gold dumped. Not a hedge day, a sell-everything day.
- Memes fried. Every single one.
- Chips cooked, SOXL −19%. Disgusting.
- Apple the only green thing on the board.
📉The tape
Round trip. Wednesday's squeeze to 84K fully unwound in US hours: BTC under 82K as the Nasdaq broke, alts −4 to −12%, every hot coin red except XMR (−1%).
| Perp | Price | 24h | OI | Funding/8h |
| BTC | 81,369 | −3.7% | $3.54B | 0.0100% |
| ETH | 2,383 | −4.3% | $2.63B | 0.0100% |
| SOL | 103.44 | −4.3% | $571M | 0.0100% |
| HYPE | 77.70 | −4.0% | $1.60B | 0.0100% |
| ZEC | 1,215 | −9.6% | $554M | 0.0100% |
Liquidations: $466.6M in 24h, $429.7M of it longs (92%). $137M in the last 4h alone, the US-session flush. BTC $134M longs vs $4.6M shorts; ETH $81M longs. Funding sits at the 0.01% baseline everywhere: longs got cleared, nobody flipped short.
Mood: risk-off, cleanly. Crypto traded as a Nasdaq beta today and the Nasdaq had its worst session in weeks.
🏦Macro
Oil is the only thing with a bid. Brent $108.50 (+2.7%, headlines had it through $111 intraday), WTI $99.23 (+1.6%), Iran war grinding with no off-ramp. Gold $4,026 (−2.7%) and silver $54.62 (−5.6%) got sold with everything else, so this was a de-gross, not a flight to safety. Copper −2.5%. FOMC is Wednesday, a war-oil print into it makes a cut a fantasy and hike talk the tail. No fresh yield prints found today; the long end isn't helping anyone.

| Nikkei (xyz) | 62,533 | −3.49% |
| Korea EWY (xyz) | 148.89 | −4.87% |
- Indices: ugly. Nasdaq −2%, Dow only −0.5%: a tech problem, not a recession call. Asia already pricing it on the perps; Korea −4.9% into tonight's open.
- Semis/AI: cooked. META 648 (−10.6%) · SNDK 1,255 (−8.7%) · MRVL 223 (−8.7%) · INTC 85.42 (−8.3%) · AMD 509 (−7.9%) · NBIS 158.8 (−7.7%) · DELL −7.1% · ARM −7.1% · SKHX 898 (−6.9%) · MU 857 (−6.1%) · AMZN −4.8% · NVDA 212.70 (−4.1%) · GOOGL −3.1% · MSFT −2.1%. - Defense: held up. PLTR 196.03 (−2.7%). Relative strength, barely.
- Consumer + crypto: beta does beta. SPCX 144.75 (−9.1%) · MSTR 144.93 (−5.9%) · HOOD 96.57 (−5.3%) · COIN 168.91 (−4.7%) · CRCL 85.96 (−4.6%) · TSLA 374.13 (−4.6%, day after Q3).
₿Bitcoin
- 81,369, −3.7%. Lost 82K in US hours with the Nasdaq. 80K is the line the whole TL is staring at: below it, the average ETF and treasury buyer is underwater.
- ETF flows strong, price ignored them. Wed +$524.8M (IBIT +$235M, FBTC +$212.7M), Tue +$23.2M, Mon +$526.7M. A billion in for the week and BTC is lower than Monday. Thursday not posted.
- Positioning: HL OI $3.54B, funding 0.01% baseline. $134M of BTC longs liquidated. Leverage reset, not capitulation; bottom-callers still early.

- No gainers. The green row is just "lost the least". Nothing above $20M volume closed up on Hyperliquid.
- XMR $611.70, −0.9%, funding 0.086%, nearly 9x baseline. Longs paying up to hide in the other privacy coin. Crowded.
- VVV $26.14, −2.5%. Held best of the CT set. Bid under it.
- LIT $3.62, −6.5%. Gave back a third of Wednesday's +19%. NEAR $4.90 (−7.1%) on $177M volume. ENA $0.1996 lost 20 cents.
- STRK $0.0537, −11.5%. Bottom of the CT set again. MON $0.0209 (−6.6%), nobody trading it.

| kPEPE | 0.004392 | −5.7% | $36M |
| DOGE | 0.0786 | −5.2% | $89M |
Memes fried. All sixteen meme perps red, Wednesday's bounce gone. PUMP −10% on $112M volume, the worst of the launchpad pair; kBONK −6.2% held up better. DOGE funding slipped negative, the one spot anyone bothered to short.
Trenches: no fresh pump.fun news today; launchpad tokens traded as pure beta.
🛡Zcash
- $1,215, −9.6%. The best chart in crypto had its worst day of the week. Still well above where it lived most of October.
- Liqs: $10.5M longs vs $1.7M shorts. OI $554M, funding baseline, $579M volume, the busiest alt on Hyperliquid. Late longs from Wednesday's +10% paid for it.
- Catalyst next week: Zcon7 Oct 27–29, Zcash turns 10 on Oct 28, same day as FOMC. No fresh ZEC headline today; this was beta, not news.
💧HYPE / Hyperliquid
- $77.70, −4.0%, funding 0.01%, OI $1.60B, only $4.2M liquidated. Fell in line with BTC; no excess leverage to burn.
- HIP-3 is where the volume went. S&P $313M, Nasdaq-100 $315M, SK Hynix $315M, META $236M, SPCX $231M, SOXL $208M, WTI $186M. People traded the tech crash on Hyperliquid. Fee machine doesn't care about direction.
🤖AI & pre-IPO
- Pre-IPO perps: OpenAI 1,504 (−2.4%), Anthropic 1,919 (−2.5%). Shallow next to the listed AI names. Private marks are sticky.
- SPCX (listed) $144.75, −9.1%. Gave back two sessions of gains. Still $10 above the $135 IPO.
- Chip tape: the selloff was framed as AI-trade worries, with Meta's post-earnings plunge leading. SOXL −19% is the number to remember.
🗞Headlines
- Meta −10.6% — mixed Q3, stock plummeted and took the AI complex with it. Capitulation in megacap.
- Nasdaq −2.07%, S&P −1.27% — AI-trade worries, Dow only −0.5%. Rotation, not panic.
- Brent through $111 intraday — no end to the Iran war in sight. War premium.
- BTC ETFs +$1B this week, price down — flows and price divorced. Supply somewhere.
- SpaceX −9% — high-beta IPO trade unwinds with tech. Gravity.
- Glassnode: liquidation clusters at $85K and $87K — that's where the shorts sit now. Magnet.
- Sensex −0.6% — oil hurts importers first. EM bleeds.
- Tesla Q3 hangover — TSLA −4.6% the day after the print. Shrugged.
