Memory chips rip · Shorts squeezed overnight · FOMC week-ahead hike talk
Tape as of 7:41am CT · Hyperliquid perps + HIP-3 · Coinglass · Farside · 24h
📣The slate
- Friday's chip dump got bought before Monday even opened.
- Korea is the trade. Memory names are flying.
- Shorts paid for the weekend. Overnight was their flush.
- ETF money still leaving. Price doesn't care yet.
- Saylor's buying smaller and smaller. Tom Lee is almost done.
- PUMP and Venice bid. Starknet still dumping.
- Memes mixed: frogs up, Fartcoin down.
- FOMC is next week and a hike is on the table. Nobody is pricing fear.
📉The tape
Green across the board, quietly. BTC +0.8%, ETH +0.4%, SOL +1.2%, HYPE +0.9%, ZEC +1.4%. No hero candle, just a steady grind off Friday's lows while the Nasdaq proxy bounced overnight.
| Perp | Price | 24h | OI | Funding/8h |
| BTC | 82,543 | +0.8% | $3.30B | 0.0100% |
| ETH | 2,424 | +0.4% | $2.60B | 0.0100% |
| SOL | 105.19 | +1.2% | $580M | 0.0072% |
| HYPE | 79.45 | +0.9% | $1.59B | 0.0100% |
| ZEC | 1,142 | +1.4% | $511M | 0.0100% |
| 💥 Rekt | Total | Longs | Shorts | Long % |
| 24h | $338M | $193M | $145M | 57% |
| Last 12h | $102M | $21M | $82M | 20% |
| Last 4h | $17.5M | $11.0M | $6.6M | 63% |
| ETH | $110M | $42M | $68M | 38% |
| BTC | $66M | $36M | $30M | 55% |
| ZEC | $14.6M | $10.2M | $4.5M | 69% |
| SOL | $13.6M | $7.4M | $6.2M | 54% |
| HYPE | $5.1M | $4.9M | $0.15M | 97% |
Mood: shorts got cooked overnight. 80% of the last 12h of liquidations were shorts, ETH the worst of it at $68M. Funding pinned at base everywhere, so nobody is levered long into this. A grind with nobody on it.
🏦Macro
The Fed is hiking and the tape shrugs. September took funds to 3.75–4.00%, unanimous, first hike since 2023. Warsh said in Bangkok Thursday that October and December are the live meetings and refused to pre-commit; hike bets for next week got trimmed, BofA still calls it in play. Oil is the inflation problem: Brent perp $105.43 (−1.2%), WTI $98.01 (−0.9%), held up by Gulf tanker attacks and a Ukrainian hit on a Russian export terminal. Gold $4,163 flat, silver $57.57 (+1.0%), copper 6.55, natgas 3.38. Futures were softer early on sticky-inflation chatter, then the chips dragged them up. Three weeks of "higher for longer" and the S&P is still 7,600+.
📈Stocks
| Name | Price | 24h |
| S&P 500 | 7,692 | +0.6% |
| Nasdaq-100 | 29,562 | +1.5% |
| Nikkei | 64,690 | +2.0% |
| Korea (EWY) | 158.78 | +6.0% |
- Indices: Friday was ugly (S&P −1.1% to ~7,659, Nasdaq −2.1%, chips led). Overnight the perps undid most of it. Korea +6% is the loudest number on the board. Buy-the-dip still undefeated.
- Semis/AI: SK Hynix proxy 973.67 (+7.2%, $382M volume, the #1 HIP-3 market), SNDK 1,354 (+6.1%), MU 910 (+4.6%), AMD 548 (+3.9%), AVGO 339 (+3.1%), NVDA 218 (+2.2%), INTC 93.6 (+5.3%), NBIS +8.0%, CRWV +7.5%, SOXL +12.2%. MSFT +0.3%, AAPL −0.4%. Memory is the whole trade. Disgusting chart, in the good way.
- Defense: PLTR 186.60 (+0.9%). Asleep.
- Consumer/crypto: HOOD 100.38 (+1.8%) · COIN 176.14 (+1.4%) · CRCL 84.18 (+2.1%) · MSTR 139.54 (+1.5%) · SPCX 148.06 (+2.3%) · TSLA 355 (+1.0%) into earnings. Following, not leading.
₿Bitcoin
- $82,543. Friday dipped into the 81s with the Nasdaq; the weekend bought it back. 83k is the line that matters. Through it and Friday was a wick.
- ETF flows: Fri −$82.4M (IBIT −$71.8M). Week: −$228M net, with Wednesday's −$261M the big hit. Sixth outflow day of October. Spot buyers are on vacation.
- Positioning: OI $3.30B on Hyperliquid, funding at the 0.01% base. Overnight was short liquidations, not new longs. The bid came from bears covering.
- Strategy: last print 250 BTC at $86,194 (Oct 12), smallest buy of 2026, now 848,250 BTC. Monday 8-K is the tell; nothing filed as of this run.

- VVV 23.88 (+6.5%). Venice keeps catching a bid on any green day. Best of the CT set.
- PUMP 0.004519 (+6.0%) on $195M volume, OI $149M. The launchpad token is the most-traded alt on Hyperliquid after the majors. Squeeze off the lows.
- STRK 0.0581 (−6.9%). The post-unlock bleed keeps going. Supply won.

Memes: half alive. Frogs and the launchpad bid, Fartcoin and SPX bled. No rotation, just scattered dip buys.
Trenches: PUMP's $195M of perp volume is the meme sector's heartbeat. Bonk.fun reportedly out-launched pump.fun late last month (single source); today's tape says PUMP is the one getting bought.
🛡Zcash
- $1,142 (+1.4%). Best major on the day, still below the 1,200 shelf it lost last week. Reclaim 1,200 and it's a range again; lose 1,100 and it's a round trip.
- OI $511M, funding base, $322M volume. $10.2M longs rekt vs $4.5M shorts in 24h: dip buyers still paying tuition.
- News: nothing dated today. Zcon7 in Cancún Oct 27–29 and the 10th birthday on Oct 28 are the next catalysts.
💧HYPE / Hyperliquid
- $79.45 (+0.9%), funding 0.01%, OI $1.59B. Lagging the bounce. 97% of HYPE's small $5M liquidations were longs.
- HIP-3 is where the volume is: SK Hynix $382M, Nasdaq-100 $322M, S&P $239M, WTI $173M, SNDK $114M. More than ETH on the venue. Koreans trading Korea on Hyperliquid at 3am is the thesis.
- Securities perps are coming onshore: five CFTC-registered exchanges filed Form 1-N for security futures, an SEC official expects securities perps this quarter. Competition for HIP-3, or validation. Probably both.
🤖AI & pre-IPO
- Anthropic perp 1,962 (+2.7%). OpenAI perp 1,530 (+0.3%). Anthropic keeps out-performing the bigger name.
- SPCX 148.06 (+2.3%, $68M volume), listed, still well above the $135 IPO. Musk renamed SpaceXAI to "SpaceX Super Intelligence" last week.
- Chip tape: memory > GPUs. SK Hynix, SanDisk and Micron ripping; NVDA only +2.2%. The AI trade's leadership is now whoever sells HBM.
- This week: Tesla and Meta report. Capex guidance is the only number anyone will read.
🗞Headlines
- SEC: securities perps "this quarter" — five DCMs filed to become security-futures exchanges. Perp-ification of stocks goes official. Bullish HOOD/COIN.
- OCC: final stablecoin-issuer rule by November, applications open January. Treasury's GENIUS issuer comments close today. Plumbing, not price.
- CLARITY still dead after the 49–50 cloture fail; CFTC says it'll write its own market-structure rules. Regulators routing around Congress. Fine.
- Bitmine at 6.03M ETH (4.9% of supply), Lee says ~100k more "and that's about it." The biggest ETH bid is leaving. Bearish ETH.
- Strategy's smallest buy of the year (250 BTC, Oct 12), funded with ~$21M of MSTR. The bid is thinning. Watch.
- Spot BTC+ETH ETFs −$152M Friday, IBIT and ETHA leading. Wall Street selling the chop.
- Musk: "SpaceX Super Intelligence" — the AI arm folds into the listed rocket company's brand. Bullish SPCX narrative.
- Jio Platforms IPO opens Oct 21, pitched as India's biggest ever. Global IPO window wide open.
