ZEC rips 13% to 1,232 · $183M shorts torched · opex Friday under a 5% 10Y
Tape as of 7:41am CT · Hyperliquid marks · Coinglass · Farside · 24h
📣The slate
- Shorts got farmed. Again.
- Zcash is the strongest chart on the board and it isn't close.
- ETH finally remembered it has a pulse.
- Alts green across the sheet; STRK the lone loser.
- Memes back, cat coins leading.
- ETF money still not buying this bounce.
- Hot CPI, 5% 10Y, Warsh on hold. Stocks shrug.
- Circle and Coinbase ripping on the crypto bid.
📉The tape
Short squeeze, broad and clean. Everything major is green, ETH outran BTC nearly 3-to-1, and the 4h liquidation print was 79% shorts. Bears loaded up into the 80K tag and got handed the bill.
| Perp | Price | 24h | OI | Funding/8h |

| SOL | $3.0M | $6.1M |
| HYPE | $2.0M | $0.7M |
| ZEC | $2.6M | $9.1M |
Mood: relief, not euphoria. Funding sits at baseline everywhere, so this was shorts covering, not longs levering. That is the healthy version of a bounce.
🏦Macro
The 10Y is parked near 5.09% and nobody blinked. Hot core CPI earlier this week killed the cut fantasy, Warsh's remarks cemented a hold at the Oct 28 meeting, the dollar slipped, and equities rotated out of megacap tech into everything else instead of puking. Oil stays war-priced: WTI $95.81 (+1.8%), Brent $103.09 (+0.8%) with no end to the Iran fight. Gold $4,180 (+0.8%), silver $57.87 (+2.2%), natgas −4.3%. Futures flat-to-green into monthly opex. 10Y above 5% and the S&P within a percent of the highs. Resilient is an understatement.
📈Stocks
HIP-3 marks; "24h" spans Thursday's cash session plus overnight.
| Name | Price | 24h |
| S&P 500 | 7,755 | +0.8% |
| Nasdaq-100 | 29,893 | +1.0% |
| Nikkei | 65,326 | +1.2% |
| Korea (EWY) | 155.52 | +3.4% |
- Indices: Thursday snapped a three-day losing streak, Dow led (+1.1%). Asia followed through, Korea the standout. Breadth, finally.
- Semis/AI: MU 912.82 (+4.4%), SNDK 1,360 (+2.5%), SK Hynix 953 (+1.7%), ARM 240 (+4.6%), CRWV 65.84 (+4.4%), ORCL 133 (+3.3%), TSLA 374.77 (+3.8%). NVDA 217.22 (−0.1%) and INTC 94.01 (−0.5%) sat it out. Memory is the trade again.
- Defense: PLTR 201.76 (+2.9%). Doesn't care about rates.
- Consumer + crypto: CRCL 85.15 (+12.0%), COIN 180.96 (+7.1%), MSTR 146.95 (+5.4%), HOOD 102.38 (+3.8%), SPCX 149.73 (+1.0%). Crypto equities beta-ing the squeeze. Circle disgusting in the good way.
₿Bitcoin
- 82,289, +1.8%. The low-80s held for a second time this week. The laggard of the majors, but the floor everyone was calling to break didn't.
- ETF flows ($M, Farside): Mon −65.4 · Tue +175.7 · Wed −261.4 (FBTC −152.7, IBIT −110.9) · Thu +5.1. The smallest inflow of the month. This bounce is derivatives, not spot demand.
- Positioning: HL OI $3.46B, funding 0.01% baseline. BTC liqs split almost dead even ($48M longs / $51M shorts): chopped both sides.
- Saylor's still buying, but small: 250 BTC last week at ~$86.2K, the smallest buy of 2026, holdings 848,250. Funded partly with MSTR sales.

- NEAR 5.30 (+15.8%) on $253M volume, OI $337M. Round-tripped last week's flush in a day. The most-traded alt not named ZEC.
- LIT 3.33 (+12.4%). Perp-DEX tokens back in fashion. ENA 0.2068 (+11.2%) the same squeeze shape.
- VVV 24.48 (+8.9%). Shorts were stacked into it; they paid.
- XMR 558.92 (+4.3%), funding at zero. The privacy trade is still ZEC-first, XMR riding along.
- STRK 0.0767 (−2.5%), the only red name with volume. The unlock landed and the pump's over.
- MON 0.0234 (+4.0%), SOL 106.24 (+4.2%). Beta, no story.

| DOGE | 0.0822 | +2.6% | $101M |
Memes back. Cats leading. Every meme perp green, CASHCAT and POPCAT doubling the majors. DOGE the lazy one.
Launchpads: PUMP 0.00445 (+4.3%) on $70M volume with the biggest OI in the meme complex. Still the sector proxy. Bonk.fun has reportedly passed pump.fun on launches and revenue (single source, late Sept); pump.fun's buyback is the only thing keeping its chart honest. Trenches: alive for a day.
🛡Zcash
- $1,232, +13.1%. Generational chart, chapter whatever. Back above the September breakout and leading the entire board on $380M HL volume.
- Shorts paid for it: $9.1M shorts vs $2.6M longs liquidated. OI $616M, funding baseline 0.01%. Not crowded long. Room to run.
- Why: no fresh headline today. Same bid as always: shielded supply near 30%, treasury buyers (Cypherpunk targeting 5% of supply), the ETF bid. Zcon7 Oct 27–29 is the next catalyst.
💧HYPE / Hyperliquid
- $81.64, +4.1%. Funding 0.01%, OI $1.63B. Bounced with the tape, still below where it traded before the October unlock.
- HIP-3 is the venue: SK Hynix $434M, S&P $331M, Nasdaq-100 $308M, NVDA $224M, SanDisk $212M, WTI $194M in 24h. A Korean memory stock out-traded SOL on Hyperliquid. Absurd.
- Liqs: just $2.7M on a $322M day. HYPE traders aren't over-levered.
🤖AI & pre-IPO
- Pre-IPO perps: OpenAI 1,536 (+2.4%), Anthropic 1,951 (−1.6%). Anthropic the rare red mark on a green day; IPO supply is coming and the perp knows it.
- SpaceX (SPCX, listed) 149.73 (+1.0%) on $173M HL volume, comfortably above the $135 IPO.
- Chip tape: memory rips, NVDA flat. Rotation inside AI, not out of it.
- Headlines: nothing dated today surfaced in the sweep; the AI tape is trading positioning, not news.
🗞Headlines
- Hot core CPI kills cut hopes, Warsh signals hold — dollar down, stocks up anyway. Bullish.
- Dow +1.1%, indices snap 3-day skid — money rotating out of megacap tech, not out of stocks. Healthy.
- Spot BTC ETFs: $5.1M Thursday, smallest inflow of October after Wednesday's −$261M. Spot sitting out. Meh.
- Polygon acquires Coinme — L2 buying a US cash-to-crypto rail. Interesting.
- Strategy buys 250 BTC, smallest buy of 2026, partly funded by MSTR sales. Slowing.
- Oil stays above $95 with no end to the Iran war; Trump already said prices stay high until after midterms. Inflationary.
- Bonk.fun vs pump.fun — launchpad war reportedly flipped to Bonk (single source). Watch.
