AI trade unwinds · $981M longs rekt · Zcash breaks 1,100
Tape as of 7:41am CT · Hyperliquid perps + HIP-3 · Coinglass · Farside · 24h
📣The slate
- Hot CPI broke the AI trade. Asia finished the job overnight.
- Longs paid for it again. Nine of every ten liquidations.
- Bitcoin is sitting on the round number. Nobody is buying it.
- ETF money left again. Saylor bought pocket change.
- Zcash finally cracked. Worst major on the board.
- Memes fried. PUMP leading the trenches down.
- Starknet the only green coin, on unlock day. Disgusting.
- Gold is the only thing anyone wants.
📉The tape
Second leg of the CPI flush. $981M liquidated in 24h, $904M of it longs, and $607M of that landed in the last 12 hours while Asia dumped chips. ETH took the biggest hit again. Funding never flipped: longs are getting liquidated, not replaced by shorts.
| Perp | Price | 24h | OI | Funding/8h | Longs rekt |
| BTC | 81,001 | −2.2% | $3.16B | 0.0069% | $181M |
| ETH | 2,363 | −4.8% | $2.52B | 0.0060% | $267M |
| SOL | 102.2 | −3.5% | $573M | −0.0044% | $30M |
| HYPE | 78.74 | −2.7% | $1.60B | 0.0100% | $7.8M |
| ZEC | 1,097 | −10.6% | $530M | 0.0100% | $18M |
Mood: crypto is trading as Nasdaq beta with leverage on top. The last 4h cooled to $34M liquidated, so the forced selling is mostly done. The buyers aren't here yet either.
🏦Macro
The Fed's hiking problem is back. September CPI beat on headline and core, the short end ripped, and hike odds for the next meetings went up with it. Two weeks to the Oct 28 FOMC and the market is pricing a Warsh Fed that tightens into an oil shock. WTI $93.95, Brent $102, still a war premium. Gold $4,154 (+1.5%) is the one bid on the screen; silver $56.80 (−1.7%) and copper (−2.7%) are trading like growth assets. PPI, retail sales, jobless claims and Philly Fed all hit at 8:30 ET this morning. A second hot print and Wednesday was round one.

Semis/AI: memory and the debt-funded neoclouds are the short, megacaps just bleeding. SK Hynix did $607M on Hyperliquid, the busiest HIP-3 market on the venue. Apple the only green name: the market's idea of a bunker.
Defense: PLTR 196.20 (−5.1%). RKLB 53.23 (−15.5%). No safe sector in growth.
Consumer + crypto: HOOD 98.83 (−8.8%) · CRCL 76.38 (−7.7%) · MSTR 139.88 (−6.8%) · COIN 169.48 (−5.3%) · SPCX 148.89 (−4.2%) · TSLA 361.52 (−2.8%). HOOD lost triple digits. Crypto equities doing 2–3x BTC.
₿Bitcoin
- 81,001. Down from 82.8k, the $80K shelf is the whole trade now. Lose it and the June lows are the next real bid; hold it and this was a rates tantrum with a wick.
- ETF flows: −$261M Wednesday (IBIT −$111M, FBTC −$153M), erasing Tuesday's +$176M. Five of the last six sessions red. The bid is not coming from Wall Street.
- Saylor bought 250 BTC last week, smallest buy of 2026, at ~$86K. Holdings 848,250. The machine is idling.
- Positioning: Hyperliquid OI $3.16B, funding 0.0069%, $181M longs rekt vs $17M shorts. Longs are still positive-funded. Not capitulation yet.

- STRK 0.0807 (+1%). The only green coin on Hyperliquid with real volume, and it's unlock day. Shorts crowded the unlock and got nothing.
- LIT 2.98 (−9.7%). Perp-DEX trade unwinding with funding negative (−0.015%): shorts piling in late.
- NEAR 4.60 (−8.3%) on $258M volume. Second big flush in a week, no headline. AI-coin beta to the chip dump.
- ENA 0.187 (−7.8%), MON 0.0227 (−7.2%) with negative funding. Cooked.
- XMR 539 (−2.5%) and VVV 22.52 (−1.0%) held up best of the CT set. Venice is a revenue coin acting like one.
- SOL 102.2 (−3.5%), funding negative. 100 is the line the TL will care about. ETH 2,363 led the liquidations, again.

| TRUMP | 1.82 | −3.6% | $10M |
Memes fried, every single one. No exceptions today: Fartcoin and Cashcat both gave it back.
Launchpads: PUMP −14% on $146M volume, worst coin on Hyperliquid. Bonk.fun has been reported passing pump.fun on launches and revenue (single source). The launchpad token is the meme sector's proxy, and the proxy is broken.
Trenches: closed until BTC holds 80.
🛡Zcash
- $1,097, −10.6%. Off 1,227 yesterday, the worst major on the board, below 1,100 for the first time this month. The relative-strength trade is over for now.
- OI $530M, funding pinned at 0.01%, $18M longs rekt vs $2.5M shorts on Coinglass. Longs still paying to hold it. Another flush is on the table if 1,050 goes.
- Volume $385M on Hyperliquid, third-busiest coin perp after BTC and ETH. Nobody's bored of it.
- Catalysts still ahead: Zcon7 Oct 27–29 and Zcash's 10th birthday Oct 28. No new headline behind this dump; it's beta and profit-taking after a 1,000%+ year.
💧HYPE / Hyperliquid
- $78.74, −2.7%. Lost 80. Still outperforming ETH by 2 points in a $1B flush. Funding 0.01%, OI $1.60B, only $7.8M longs liquidated.
- HIP-3 is where the volume went: SK Hynix $607M, Nasdaq-100 $538M, S&P $507M, silver $309M, NVDA $239M. The venue is the overnight stock market now, and drawdowns are its best fee days.
- No fresh HYPE headline today. Kraken/Payward US-entry talks remain the medium-term catalyst.
🤖AI & pre-IPO
- OpenAI perp $1,495 (−8.1%). Taking the AI unwind 4x harder than Anthropic. Funding negative. The market is shorting the leveraged AI balance sheet, and OpenAI is the poster child.
- Anthropic perp $1,981 (−2.0%) on $22M volume, OI $41M. Holding near 2,000.
- SPCX (listed) $148.89 (−4.2%). Still 10% over the $135 IPO price. Did $140M on Hyperliquid.
- Chip tape: SOXL −16%, SK Hynix −11.5%, NVDA −3.9%. TSMC is the next print and it's in focus pre-market. A beat stops the bleeding; anything soft and memory goes another leg.

- Kalshi & Polymarket keep eating sports betting; court fights state by state continue. Verdict: secular.
